Electronic Arts posts an official statement to delay the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from its original date of March 17 to six weeks later

The game studio posted an official statement on Twitter announcing they were in the "final stage" of developing the sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. "In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule," the statement reads. Instead of its original launch date of March 17, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now release on April 28.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Jumps Five Years in the Future

Released in 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes place five years after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, following the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. The game's storyline follows Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who must outrun Imperial Inquisitors throughout the galaxy while completing his training. Players can use Cal's lightsaber and mind-bending Force powers in battle to defeat enemies like stormtroopers and bounty hunters.

At 2022's Game Awards, Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan, who also starred in Shameless and Gotham, appeared to officially announce Survivor's release date and unveil more gameplay footage. The 2022 sequel fast-forwards five years after the events of Fallen Order, while Cal and his companion droid, BD-1, are still on the run from the Empire. The trailer also featured a shadowy figure in a bacta tank, which fueled fan theories surrounding the possible return of Taron Malicos.
